psyche29My grandfather sent me this email today - it's one of many that I receive every day, and while they never blatantly say "Republicans should Rule," they piss me off. This one sent me over the edge:
An email from Ireland to all of their brethren in the States. A point to ponder despite your political affiliation:
We, in Ireland, can't figure out why you people are even bothering to hold an election in the United States.
On one side, you had a pants wearing female lawyer, married to another lawyer who can't seem to keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer, who goes to the wrong church, who is married to yet another lawyer, who doesn't even like the country her husband wants to run!
Now...on the other side, you have a nice old war hero whose name starts with the appropriate 'Mc' terminology, married to a good looking younger woman who owns a beer distributorship!
What in God's name are ya lads thinking over in the colonies!!!!!
So I sent an email back to him:
So ultimately, we women should shut up and get our asses back in the kitchen and make some pies for the "nice old war hero" who wants to keep killing our sons and daughters and take away every right we have while he's at it - and all because he's old, white, rich, been mentally and physically scarred in a war, married to a "good-looking younger woman" and goes to the "right" church?
*snorts* The idea that there are actually people out there who believe this kind of garbage hurts my brain. This is the kind of value system that ruins lives, the "I'm better than you and you're wrong because you're none of the things that I am or that I think you should be" belief that brings down entire civilizations, not to mention countries and ethnicities - recall here Hitler and his Holocaust.
That's not to say I'm gung-ho for tilting the world on its end and giving it a good shake; I'm not. But something has to give, we have to start somewhere...and starting where we're leaving off is not the place. Nature is change, and "same-old, same old" doesn't cut it anymore. The status quo isn't the status quo anymore, and old, white, rich, war-torn cradle-robbers have had their chance over the last eight years. Their time is - should be - up.
And just for the record? I am more than baking and children and cleaning and catering to my man. I wear pants because they're comfortable, practical and no indication at all of my worth, as a woman or as a person. I am a woman, I am just as capable as any man, and if Irish men - or any men - think the way this particular email indicates, they can all go off to war, kill each other, and leave the world to me and my other capable women.
It's funny - my grandfather and I get along just fine, and I love him insanely. But the filth he keeps spreading just drove me over the edge this time. Wonder how long till he forwards my response to my dad? XD.
EDIT: He emailed me back - and how completely typical a response: Obviously someone can't take a joke.
*LOL* I adore the fact that he didn't counter ANY of my points.
And then I had another email from him that said this: Quote for the day:
"Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply.
If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.
If you give her a house, she'll give you a home.
If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So - if you give her any crap, you will receive a ton of shit.
And I had to laugh out loud, because it was mostly true...and that was exactly what I did. *hehe*
