psyche29: A brown eye with rainbow eyeliner all around it (what addiction)
I haven't seen it yet. I want to, but at the same time...I am filled with trepidation.

Harry has been such a huge part of my life. I can't even imagine how dull and dreary my life would have been all these years had I not read these incredible books, met these incredible people and become friends with so many of them. I would certainly be more narrow-minded without this - without this saga, without these friends, both fictional and not.

Still - every commercial, every preview for this last installment makes my heart hang heavy in my chest. A lump forms in my throat and my eyes sting. I'll probably put off seeing it for a little while; I can't force myself into something my heart is currently flailing so hard against.

And too, I don't want to let go of this magic, this world. I have this fear that to do so would drain away the vibrancy of life. Irrational, yes, but-. I'm just...sad.

Too cute.

We fished Toy Story 3 out of Red Box the other day and finally watched it last night. It was a good movie, and I think it closes out the series very well.

And my 12-year-old, big, smart 6th grader had tears in his eyes and needed to be hugged and cuddled afterwards, and he vowed then and there that he is "never, ever giving away my Elmo as long as I live, not when I go to college, and not even when I'm old and grey."

Yup. Still the sensitive, emotional child he has always been. :)

Holy crap, I made it in here before midnight this time.

Day 5 – Your Definition Of Love )

The 30-Day Meme List )

Played a game of Harry Potter Clue this evening; hubby was about to beat me for the first time ever, but missed by ONE CARD...which I had in my hand. *dies laughing* And so I remain the Clue queen in our little circle - but barely, if you believe him. "I should've gone with my gut!" I think he should've gone with "confirming his beliefs with another round," but ahh, well. XD.

Also played a game of Yahtzee. I won that, too, but I had my ass handed to me the last time I played it, so-. ;)

Now watching A New Hope and fiddling around here before bed. Darth Vader's about to kill Obi Wan. And I think it's ridiculously hilarious that those characters are such icons that spell check doesn't underline their names in red! LOL!

Holiday tomorrow, so no work - WOOT! I love short weeks, especially when I also have Tuesday off. ;) Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

I think I like this "Friday Five" idea, so I'll give it a bit of a go.

This week's questions from [community profile] thefridayfive:

1. I have been absolutely terrible about commenting lately; please forgive me. I have, however, been reading updates and keeping up with things with all of you.

Odds and Ends. )

11. I think that's all for now. ;)
psyche29: A brown eye with rainbow eyeliner all around it (not being entertained)
I've had lots of thoughts the last few days, but they're kind of jumbled together in one big mess in my head. Attempting to unravel, then:

1. Everyone should read this: Own Your Awesome. Just go, read it.

2. Diana Gabaldon on fanfic. Seriously?! Her stuff is hardly worth the effort it takes to get out the door to go find it, for shit's sake. She's since issued another post, but it's a useless bit of internet, if you ask me.

3. I was feeling queasy this morning. I still am a little bit, but at least it's better right now. I really think I need to work on what and how much I eat every day, because this is getting ridiculous.

4. We registered the boychild for a summer camp. He goes in July for a week, about 2 hours north of here. It's a Christian camp, but more on par with what we were hoping for, AND it's $245 (as opposed to the asinine $400 and up being charged elsewhere). I still think $245 is pretty ridiculous (that's STILL more than we spend on groceries in a month!), but it's MUCH easier to swallow.

5. We found a church we're going to try this Sunday. Thoughts will be forthcoming.

6. Dear Coworker:

Every single time we schedule a training session, you agree to it, then are gone or schedule a doctor appointment for the same time and don't bother to tell me. I am sick to death of your stupid, selfish games and the union isn't going to protect you much longer when you keep abusing every privilege you have.

My patience with you is absolutely gone, and you are very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very times INFINITY lucky that I need this job, or I would have slapped you silly a long, long, long, long, LONG TIME AGO.

Get over yourself, stop behaving like you're a victim and STAY AWAY FROM ME, because I have HAD IT.

No love - not even any LIKE -
The One With Whom You Really Should Have Made An Effort

P.S. Oh, and our mutual supervisor and manager? They're on MY side, you ignorant cow.

7. I can't even begin to explain all the things that make the aforementioned coworker an absolute NIGHTMARE to work with! My tolerance level is shockingly low to begin with, and she's so far beyond it, I can't even look at her without rage just burning a hole through my brain.

8. Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called Everybody, and they meet at the bar. DREW CAREY.

9. Yesterday was Star Wars Day - May the Fourth be with you! *LMAO* I know I'm late with it, but all the same-. ;)

10. I should probably have put all this behind a cut, but I just can't be arsed today. Sorry. I still love you all. ♥

A few things this morning, and of course, first things first:

[livejournal.com profile] coonassblondie has a birthday today!

Happy, happy birthday, Angel!
I hope your day is wonderful!

Life, the Universe and Everything )

7. I think I'm going to put Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium on the iPod this afternoon while I work. It just feels like that kind of day. :)
psyche29: Tea in a white cup and saucer, sitting on a pink placemat (tea)
1. First things first - I'm kind of surprised no one had anything to say about my last post. If you simply missed it but are reading this one, I would really appreciate thoughts on the previous one.

2. It was such a fabulous weekend. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and we were kid-free till Sunday afternoon. Hubby and I had ourselves a day-long date on Saturday and it was perfect. We had an early lunch, did some shopping, just drove around for a few hours, did a little more shopping, took in a movie, had a late dinner and went home. MAN, did I love Saturday.

3. The movie we saw was Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and it was very good. I love the books, and while obviously stuff had to be cut out for a movie, and of course they messed crap up, it was still very good, and made hubby want to read the book. Excellent. I also loved being able to prod him along through the movie, to be able to see a scene spread out and be able to say, "OK, what do you see a lot of? Who do you think they'll meet here? What do you think is happening here?" It was really fun to watch things click for him with just a word here, a prod there.

4. Cut for pictures! )

5. Speaking of this Saturday, Valerie and Bailey are visiting with baby Phoenix. They'll arrive Friday, and we'll probably see them Saturday or Sunday. I'll have to try to take pictures - for having a stupid name, the kid is way cute, and happy, too.

6. Big Bang Theory tonight - yay! XD.
psyche29: A brown eye with rainbow eyeliner all around it (where the heart is)
Mmm, just a basic update, but I'll cut for length. ;)

I think that's the majority of it for now...I may have more to say later. *lol*

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." GEORGE CARLIN.

1. I am LOVING autumn so far. I love the cooler weather, the turning leaves, the warm colors and the fabulous smells.

I had to show her off, she's so beautiful. Made for me on request by [livejournal.com profile] xsprite at [livejournal.com profile] nightbreeze_gfx. I may ask her to make me a few more for the other seasons!

Anyway, HAPPY AUTUMN to my co-Northern-Hemisphere peeps! (I don't think I HAVE any Southern Hemisphere peeps, but I figured I better differentiate, just in case.) *hee*

2. Mikey's doing so well in school this year! No behavior issues so far, AND he's keeping a B+ average. Way cool.

3. Just renewed both Oblivion and The Stillest Day (Josephine Hart) at the library; OT takes away a lot of good reading time, unfortunately. I also put holds on five other books. They are A Game of Thrones (George R.R. Martin), The Stolen Child (Keith Donohue), Letter to a Christian Nation (Sam Harris), The Alchemist (Paulo Coelho) and A Wrinkle In Time (Madeleine L'Engle).

4. While typing this, Mikey JUST broke his glasses. He needs new ones anyway, but DAMMIT, THAT WAS HIS ONLY. PAIR. GOD, I don't get this kid sometimes. I was NEVER like this. What am I doing wrong? Why doesn't he listen and be careful? Rhetorical questions, no need to answer them. I know I wasn't any shade of "normal" as a kid. It's just so frustrating. I'm just shaking with anger, I can't even talk to him right now. God, I'm a horrible mom.

Matt's got to make a special trip now to go get some super glue, because tape isn't working. Jesus, he broke them right in the middle, like Harry's glasses in PS.

5. I think I have a temper problem. I've noticed it gets worse as I get older. I just want people to fucking listen to me and do what I damn well tell them to do. The first time, and immediately. I understand if they're in the middle of something, but for the love of God, if I tell you to be careful and not to do something, then acknowledge that you understood me, and prove it - BE CAREFUL AND DON'T DO THAT THING! HOW FUCKING DIFFICULT IS IT?

Sorry. [/TANTRUM].

6. Going to the 3D "Toy Story" double feature this coming Saturday. :) Can't wait.

7. Uhh... That must be it. I forget so many things recently. *sigh* How's everything with the rest of you, especially those I don't talk with too often?

1. You know, given the right circumstances (which would include getting rid of the two headcases and the current supervisor and allowing me to replace the two headcases with normal, mostly confident people), I would totally go for the supervisor position in the cash office. It is wildly ridiculous, how disorganized and utterly lacking in customer service it is down there. Given two rational employees, I could have that office running like a well-oiled, well-loved machine inside of six months.

Theoretically.

2. Just finished watching The Incredible Hulk, the one with Edward Norton. It was all right; not something I would have chosen for myself, but not a complete waste of an evening.

3. In discussion of Thor, God of Thunder and part of The Avengers, resulting from the aforementioned movie, heard in my living room not sixty seconds ago:

Mikey: Who's Thor?
Matt: He was a Viking god.
Mikey: Like Adrian Peterson?

And this from the kid who seriously couldn't care less about football! *dies*

4. Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, "You owe me." Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky. HAFIZ.

5. If you haven't seen this yet, you must. Everything about it makes me grin and giggle and burst with all manner of joy. See for yourself:

1. Not too much today. Yes, again. And yes, I am aware that I am a boring, boring person...

2. S'ketti tonight at Bunny and John's. Bunny makes the best spaghetti. Wait, scratch that - Bunny makes the best food, period. I'm pretty sure she's fed me crap I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole if I knew what it was. And she lies when I ask her what stuff is, too. Woman knows how to work me, what can I say?

3. Karen's birthday was yesterday (the 23rd). Party tomorrow evening for her, so baking a cake tonight since Mom asked me. German chocolate - yummo. Dad's birthday today, called and wished him a happy one.

4. Mikey is currently serving punishment for the crime of the summer, committed last night. He's grounded from video games, we've taken away all snacks, he doesn't get a fan for his room this weekend, and we made him stay over at Bunny and John's tonight instead of giving him the choice. His crime? Last night (thank God it was dark), Matt stepped out on the balcony. Mikey, thinking he was being funny, stepped up behind him and YANKED HIS PANTS DOWN. Underwear and all. ... Hilarious now, yes, but last night? Ohhh, not funny. I've never seen that kid start crying so fast in his life. Didn't even have to touch him, he knew how much trouble he got himself into.

5. Watched that new GForce movie on Wednesday, a pre-screening for which Matt won free tickets. It was amusing here and there, but I'm glad we didn't pay for it.

Saw Get Smart the other night, though - that was a really great movie. Have to pick up my own copy.
