Past & Present meme

Saw this on
wandaxmaximoff's page; haven't seen it elsewhere yet or in recent memory, anyway, so I decided to swipe it and give it a try. ;)
THEN = 1998, NOW = 2008
1) How old were you?
Then: 20
Now: 30
2) What was your online presence?
Then: I was a college student, I used ICQ to chat with people and Alta Vista was my preferred search engine for school and trivia weekend. And of course I used email a lot.
Now: I would hate to be without it. I can do a long weekend, but really, I prefer to be connected - I'm a member of several forums and a few different fan-fiction archives, I have a few different email addresses for various purposes, I chat mostly on MSN but will use Yahoo or ICQ if someone else only has it and really wants to talk with me. Yahoo is my preferred search engine now, occasionally Google, and Wikipedia is my source for most everything.
3) Where did you work?
Then: I was a Night Supe in one of the dormitories on campus at my university.
Now: In a large hospital in patient accounting.
4) Where did you live?
Then: St. Cloud, MN
Now: Brooklyn Center, MN
5) Who did you live with?
Then: My roommate, Kerry – we shared an apartment.
Now: Every-damn-body. Hubby, son, mom, dad and two of my four sisters.
6) How was your health?
Then: Overweight, but otherwise perfect.
Now: More overweight, but still otherwise fine.
7) Pets?
Then: None, our apartment only allowed cats, to which I am allergic.
Now: One chicken-shit dog and one hardy goldfish.
8) Who was your boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/spouse/S.O.?
Then: No one – I suspect I just wasn’t good enough, for the most part.
Now: My husband, Matt. ;)
9) Who were your friends?
Then: I had several people I counted as friends then – Jessie, Jenn, Aleesha, Aaron, Ray, Jeanette, Shanna, Kerry, Paul, Loren, Nate, Shaun, Jolyn…hey Aleesha, who am I missing from this list? I feel like I’m forgetting some people.
Now: I don’t have too many left. I’d like to think I’m still friends with most of the people I just listed, but time and life makes you drift apart sometimes. I don’t see any of them very often apart from Jenn and Ray – and even then, I only see them maybe once or twice a year. My closest friends are friends I’ve made online, really. Mary, Jigz, Kaz, Rosi, Clare, Sarah, Beth, etc.
10) Any kids? Any plans for kids?
Then: Nope. Not a snowball’s chance in hell. I had four sisters and one of them was pregnant. What the hell did I need with kids?
Now: I have custody of the child my sister was pregnant with then; he is ten years old now and in fourth grade. And we have no plans for any of our own.
11) What was your worst struggle?
Then: Keeping my grades up, I suppose!
Now: I don’t really know! Probably getting up off my bum to do things – I would so much rather stay in bed most of the time!
12) What was your biggest joy?
Then: Reading, writing, listening to music, spending time with those I love.
Now: Reading, writing, listening to music, spending time with those I love. I don’t change much.
13) What did you consider your greatest accomplishment?
Then: My spelling abilities.
Now: A happy and healthy Mikey, a strong relationship with my husband.
14) What advice would you give your younger self?
“Enjoy your friends while you have them – they won’t always be around.”
15) What would your younger self say to you?
“Still don’t bother with hair dryers or makeup, hmm?”
16) Looking back, is your life in 2008 what you thought it would be in 1998?
Frankly, yes. *shrugs*
In other news...uh...
OK, apparently, that was all. *snerk*
