Fruit Salad and Bowling
Apr. 25th, 2007 10:32 pmWhat a combo, hmm? Hehehehe...
I didn't have them together today, though.
The fruit salad was at lunchtime. It was "snack day" at work today and someone - one of my favorite someones, actually - brought fruit salad. She'd put pears and bananas, grapes and strawberries and tangerines in it. And instead of using whipped cream or Cool Whip like my mom does, she'd mixed a bit of orange juice with some vanilla yogurt, then mixed it all in.
I tell you, that was the best fruit salad I have ever eaten - I must've had three helpings. I highly recommend trying it. A medium-sized mixing bowl of cut up fruit, and then for the "dressing," about half a cup each of orange juice and vanilla yogurt mixed together. SO good!
And this evening was Mikey's first day of bowling. We let him sign up for the spring "Shrek League" at the local bowling alley. Sometime in July, he'll get his very own bowling ball (he chose to have Donkey on it), and for the next fourteen weeks (including tonight) he'll get to practice.
So he played two games, with some practice and instruction beforehand. And in the middle of his first game, my klutzy child bashed his right ring finger between two bowling balls. We're unsure as to whether or not it's broken, but as he's able to bend it, we're thinking probably not.
So he finishes out his first game, and gets a 33. Then he starts his second game. Halfway through that one, he misses the step up onto the part where you stand before you toss the ball, and falls flat on his face. *rolls eyes* I shit you not, this kid would trip over a cordless phone if given the chance...
Anyway, he's fine. He finished out his second game with a 30. Not too bad, I suppose, for his first time with minimal instruction and no bumpers up.
Matt and I bowled a couple games, as well. And for the first time in - oh, ever - I actually won both games. And in another amazing first, I finally broke 100! My first game was only 54 - and that's including a rare strike and one spare - and Matt's first game was a 51.
And our second games? He got an 84, and I got - drumroll please - two strikes, three spares, and a score of 129!! *dances around like a loony* LOL!
Okay, yeah...I always lose. And I'm a poor loser, so I'm thrilled about winning for once. Hehehehe...
