1. So my boss comes over to my desk yesterday and nonchalantly goes, "You know, I'll probably have to take over this desk." And has the audacity to smile at me like she really isn't sorry about it. Which of course, she isn't. I'm learning that she talks really big, but is highly useless when it comes right down to it. And she has no backbone whatsoever, so she won't stand up for me when I deserve better.
2. This means, of course, that my desk that I finally got, the one with all the space that I needed for all the work I've got? Yeah, I'm being kicked out of it within the next month or so and forced into a desk smaller than the one I was at to begin with. It's not even a real desk, it's two tables in a tiny corner with no room to move. There's not even a COMPUTER there. Needless to say, I am beyond pissed.
3. I've started paying a bit of attention to my resumé. It really sucks because I simply don't know how to make it sound good. Any pointers? How about if I beg someone to write it for me? Seriously. I am unremarkable, but I work hard and learn quickly and can be depended upon to finish what I start, be punctual and tidy and loyal. I get the job done and I make sure it's done right. My communication skills are excellent, both written and verbally, although I just read something about how employers don't want to hear that anymore? God, the whole idea of writing this thing myself is just mind-boggling.
4. Mikey started summer school just this past Monday. He only goes in the morning, and gets fed both breakfast and lunch there. It's not remedial or anything; he's just one of those kids who won't retain the knowledge if he doesn't use it for a while. Summer school is a way to keep it fresh so that the new grade and new school year isn't such an academic shock. And the bonuses include no homework and no cost to the parents - it's a free program through his school. Very nice.
5. He was supposed to have two fillings and some sealants yesterday at the dentist. Matt got him there in plenty of time, but because someone else came in late and they took them anyway, Mikey's appointment was put off 40 minutes, then he ended up puking from nerves alone, and then they didn't want to go on because once he's gassed, he can't spit or anything properly and they didn't want him puking again and choking on it or anything. Understandable, but what a pain in the ass all around. So he's rescheduled for mid August, and on the bump list in case someone cancels...and for 8:00 A.M. so that there'll be nothing in his belly to throw up. Dry heaves are better than substance in this case.
6. OH! Everything's out of the house, and it's no longer in Dad's possession. I'm glad we're done, but sad about not being there anymore. That was always home. I'll put up a picture later.
7. Still have two Dreamwidth invite codes up for grabs. Comment and let me know if you want one, even just to try it out. I think what I like best about DW right now is that it's not blocked here at work, and I was able to import all my entries from LJ. AND, I can cross-post to my LJ from here (which is how I'm doing this right now). I'll have to check my LJ when I get home and make sure it looks the way it's supposed to, but that's all right.
8. Leftover gyros for lunch today...mmmmm, lamb and rice and pita and hummus.
9. If you watch "Jaws" backwards, it's just a movie about a shark that keeps throwing people up until they have to open a beach. What?! It struck my funny bone. *hehe*

Date: 2009-07-13 06:34 pm (UTC)Like I said earlier on MSN, your boss sounds TERRIBLE. You shouldn't have to put up with that, and I hope things improve/ you find a better job out there.
Summer school sounds like a great idea ... Mikey gets a refresher and you don't have to look after him all holiday. I wish they did something like that at Nathan's school; I think he'd benefit from it. Though, he's still got Scouts over the summer. ^_^
Poor guy! I HATE going to the dentist; dental anesthetic makes me sick. I hope the next time he has to go, he fairs better.
:( I can understand it's sad your dad no longer owning the house you've spent so many years in, but it must be a relief to have everything sorted now.
Hum .... DW ... everyone seems to be getting one and I refuse to jump on the band-wagon. seriously, if it's exactly the same as LJ, what's the point? Cool that you can cross post and work hasn't blocked it though.
DAMN IT, now you've made me want lamb and rice and pita and hummus (well, not hummus, I hate it) and I only ate dinner like an hour ago! *lol*
*rotflmo* @ the Jaws quote. SO.FUNNY.
