A quiet - yet somehow busy - Saturday.

1. It's raining. Thank you, Lord - the humidity was absolutely stifling. Our air conditioner is turned off for the first time since, oh, Thursday...
2. Was in bed with the light off around midnight last night..and somehow slept till eleven. Wasn't planning on that, but it was pretty nice.
3. Culver's for lunch - wanted to stay all afternoon, there's a band that plays there each Saturday afternoon! They were just starting when we were finishing up, it was very cool. Several older gentlemen and few older ladies, playing bluegrass. We may go back next Saturday for more!
4. Made pig candy today. GOD, IT IS SO GOOD. I wasn't expecting it to be this awesome. I'll try to get a picture of it for you, but it might not last that long. It's just bacon, coated in dark brown sugar and baked in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool it on a rack and you have the stickiest, sweetest, tastiest treat ever. And actually, the bacon we picked up at the store was maple bacon - I think that adds to it. So good.
5. Got a picnic to attend tomorrow. Have to bring something to share, so I'll be making potato chip cookies. YUM.
6. Resting at the moment; watching an old Top Gear episode and enjoying the smell and sounds of rain. Not too shabby for a Saturday, no? XD.

Date: 2009-08-16 10:23 am (UTC)Oh, I want to come to Culver's for lunch for luch with you. Relaxing and listening to Bluegrass sounds good. Hope you get the chance to go and hear the band again soon.
Ain't it great when you lie-in longer than you intend to. I haven't done that for ages. Even on days my mum has had Nathan, I'm still getting up at nine! *lol*

Date: 2009-08-17 03:38 am (UTC)And deep fried candy bars? *giggles* Old news, babe - Minnesota State Fair, home of food on a stick. Literally, they've put just about everything on a stick...and deep fried it. They even did Twinkies one year. Though I must say, I've never been brave enough to try most stuff; I tend to stick with the cheese curds, turkey legs, hush puppies, milk and fries.
Did you like the deep fried candy bar?
