Going to the dentist today. First time in 13 years.

Just a set of XRays and a cleaning today, since it's been so long, but still...hands in my mouth, things in my mouth, getting scolded for having poor habits... NOT looking forward to this.

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't gag violently every time I brush my teeth. And if I didn't have such a big mouth fetish.

Someone, save me. *sighs*

EEeek! I so hate going to the dentist with a burning passion. GOOD LUCK! You can do it. Cleanings aren't so bad at least.

13 years? My goodness I would go crazy. Of course my mom has worked a the same dental office for the last 16 years so hat may have some effect on my mental state. I feel like they will come and find me if I miss a cleaning, LOL.
Why do you hate the dentist?

Not hate so much as "am afraid." Phobic. I don't like things/hands/people near/in/on my mouth. I never really developed good brushing habits. Part of that is never being guided to brush as a kid, but as I get older, I realize more and more that I gag - violently - on the spit every time I do. At that point, of course, it's like why should I bother brushing so often if I'm just going to throw up every time and completely negate the brushing to begin with?

Then there's the whole fear of pain/needles thing compounding it. AND the fact that the last time I was at the dentist, he pulled out a needle, I started bawling, and he yelled at me - loudly enough for my grandmother to hear from the waiting room - that I should knock it off because big girls don't cry. Phobia cemented.
