Lots of words, not much to say.

psyche29Feels like a while since I posted, even though it was only last Friday...
1. The further I get from that interview, the more glad I am that I wasn't offered the position. I don't like my current one any better, but I'm not afraid now to put my resume out there and try for other things elsewhere.
2. Mikey (boychild) goes to camp on Monday! He seems mostly indifferent about the whole thing, but that's fairly normal for him; he doesn't generally determine how he feels about things until he does them. We think he'll have a good time, though.
3. One of my coworkers was asking to me yesterday whether hubby and I had ever considered buying and living in a mobile home (we live in an apartment). We hadn't REALLY given it much thought. A lot of that is because I'm the working parent, he's the stay-at-home parent - and while I make enough to keep us fed and clothed and keep a roof over our heads, I do NOT make enough to have a mortgage AND utilities and still keep food on the table; things would be much too tight, much too often. And I was under the impression, too, that mobile homes ran in the 90K to 130K range, just like any very small house might.
Apparently, though, I was very mistaken. After chatting with said coworker yesterday, and looking around online last night with hubby, it looks like the only mobile homes in that range are ones that are brand spankin' new, or 4876519 times bigger than we would ever want or need. There were some double-wides in the 20K to 40K range!! And they were in excellent condition, etc.
Knowing this now, it would be a good way to build some equity for us, and at a price we could handle. We're going to look into it more; our lease for the apartment isn't up till April 1st next year, so as we get closer to the end of the year, we'll look harder at our options.
4. The possibility of having a yard is drawing me like a moth to flame. I prefer big yards, as that's what I grew up with, but even just a small one would do. I could attempt a proper bit of gardening, have space to put up a lawn chair and get a proper grill, etc. I ould also have an extra bathroom - two toilets would be absolute luxury, let me tell you. And the thought of not having to climb to the third floor every single day, with or without groceries, is tempting enough to make my brain go FINDONERIGHTNOWANDMOVEMOVEMOVEMOVE!!!
5. Apparently, I have a meeting in 15 minu... OH. Nevermind, I know what it's about. /brainfart
6. Every single day when I get to work, I have to slip out of my flipflops and into closed-toe shoes. I have a simple pair here for most days, but they are absolutely falling apart. I've been needing a new pair for, oh, six months or so. But I'm tight-fisted, and refuse to spend $10.00 for shoes that are, quite frankly, flimsy as hell...and all the ones in the same style as these are between $10 and $15, and they're all UGLIER. Who allows that to happen, anyway?
So of course, I've got shoes on the brain, and went to my favorite shoe porn place to ogle and dream for a bit. Fluevog is wildly expensive, but their shoes are BRILLIANT.

I shit you not, if I had money coming out my ears, I would own several new pair of shoes from this place. And I would wear them ALL THE TIME.

Date: 2010-07-08 08:48 pm (UTC)The first pair comes in several colors, although none of them blue. The closest one is this pair. It says green, but the main part looks more like a soft blue to me. Though of course, everyone sees things a bit differently. :)
