Day 7 – Your Best Friend

You know, I have never, ever had a lot of luck in the "best friend" department. I have issues all around with this "best friend" business. I want one, I need one like I need air, but I don't think I've ever really had one. All the people I was close enough to? Every one of them considered someone else their "best friend."

And for me, it's just not enough to announce that someone has that status. I want someone who, when she (or he, or however they happen to identify) hears, "your best friend," the first person who comes to mind is me. There was someone, for a while. But like the vast majority of my friendships, it ended. No warning, no explanation. Which of course makes me question whether I was ever actually on her radar to begin with.

I am continually floored by people who are still my friends after a couple years; it seems like most people move deliberately away from me after that. And yeah, I am damaged because of it. But I never stop putting myself out there, because that little hope sitting in that dark corner of my heart just keeps on hoping.

Sorry. Not the greatest person with whom to discuss best friends. :/
