Dreamwidth Meme :)

1. Why did you sign up for Dreamwidth?
Out of curiosity, at first; I wanted to see how it might be different from LJ. And right away, even though it was small and fledgling, I liked it better. It feels cleaner here, user-friendly and more open about policies, and that's something I want to support and stay with.
2. Why did you choose your journal name?
I'm "Psyche" just about everywhere I go on the web. Somebody, sadly, already had that here, so I popped the numbers on the end and matched it up to my LJ name for ease of use on my part. As to the name itself, I love mythology, and the story of Cupid and Psyche has always, always been my very favorite.
3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
I usually do; many of my good friends are still at LJ, with no intentions of moving for the time being. I don't crosspost things I do for 3w4dw, however.
4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?
Use FaceBook, read news stories here and there, check email and read fanfic. Sometimes I'll use YouTube or DeviantArt; I'm really more of a random surfer than anything.
5. How about when you're not on the computer?
I love to read and to write, listen to music and watch movies, play video games and spend time with those I love. I enjoy cooking and baking, and even just going for a drive.
6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I'm not anywhere near as smart as they are; this is often why I don't comment when I am perfectly able to so. I read everything with interest, but feel really uneducated a lot of the time, and am often afraid I'll be yelled at or kicked out for being just too stupid to be allowed in your circles. Sometimes it just takes me a while to compose something that doesn't sound like a fourteen-year-old wrote it, so I'm often behind the times by the time I get to it (although sometimes, I really do just get to it late because I'm also busy and forgetful). And then when I DO comment, I'm always kicking myself, going, "Oh, God, everyone is now dumber for having read that, why can't I be SMART, WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY?"
7. What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
I love
omnomnom and
metaquotes.
8. What community do you wish was more active?
honeypeach, although I shouldn't say that when I haven't been in there myself in quite a while!
9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
I don't know too many here well enough to say!
10. Tell me about your default icon.
It's the open door of the wardrobe from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, combined with the first line of Shel Silverstein's poem, Come In. I am a dreamer, and I am Narnian in the deepest part of my heart.
11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
Um. I am definitely not a backend-type person, I don't even know what things are possible. Whenever there's something new, I find myself going, "Whoa, how did I ever get by without this?", even while being perfectly aware that I wouldn't have known I wanted it if someone else hadn't said, "Yaaaayyy, here you go!!"
12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile? Why?
Books, family, food, humor and love. Most of the rest of my "interests" fall into those basic categories. I'm a simple person who's relatively easy-going and ridicuously easy to please.
13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
By unique, do you mean it's not in red and linked because no one else in all of DW Land lists them? One of those would be London Tipton - she's a character on a Disney show. She's willfully dumber than a box of hammers, and I find her absolutely hilarious. Another is Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, which is the book series by Michael Scott. The fifth book is due out at the end of this month, I believe, and I enjoy them very much. The other two unique ones are Victoria Justice (star of Nickelodeon's Victorious) and William Sloane Coffin, whose writings I enjoy.
14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
This is where I start showing how y'all are smarter than I am in so many ways. Does "gateway" mean "first thing you ever really got into?" If so, I guess it would be the In Death series by JD Robb. I'm still a fan, still love to read the books, but don't often visit my first real stomping grounds. I enjoy it there, but I've since expanded upon my list of loves, and some of them continue to exceed the first. I doubt there's a community here for it, but maybe I should go looking.
15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
I've recently been enjoying Mark Reads and Mark Watches. It is really, really awesome to follow along as someone discovers something that I love. It's disgusting that "awesome" is the best word I can currently think of to describe it.
I also can't stop trying to win Solitaire on my phone, and as ever, I enjoy working on my Harvest Moon farm. There is something deeply satisfying to me about planting perfect rows of digital crops and having them turn out on schedule while making a life.
16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
We went to California in March, but I haven't managed to post the pics yet. There aren't many from there, mostly just scenery along the way, but it was really relaxing and nice to be away with my men. Also, I participated in my very first fic fest ever, and managed to write something that my recipient loved.
17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
None. But I wish I did! Y'all are so interesting to me, even when you feel you probably aren't at all. I am always interested to read what you have to say.
18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?
Politics, for the most part, and religion. News and current events and deep, thinky things, including things that end up being a potential minefield because I'd probably use a term I didn't know was considered hurtful or rude, things that someone takes exception to because it's offensive somehow. Y'all run circles around me with your scary-huge intelligence and your thoughts and feelings about the various deep, thinky things; part of me feels I could never hope to compete, much less really explain what I think, but too, a bigger part of me doesn't want to think about some things because they hurt my head, they hurt my heart, and I want the world to be a better place than it is. And then, too, is the whole "I'm not looking to start a fight or host a war on my journal" thing. And also, I'm lazy.
19. Any questions from the audience?
By all means. I'm usually pretty open, though I'll tread carefully if I feel unsure.
20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
OK, you know what? Someone educate me. What, exactly, is yaoi? I feel like a moron for having to ask, but my current collection of ideas only indicates that it's male slash, of any medium. Is it more than that? Less? Am I so wrong, you are all laughing at me right now?
21. What's your favorite thing about Dreamwidth?
The up-front and open approach by those in charge.

same here. i wish i had a dollar for everything i had to google something that everyone else (it seems) knew or understood.
i think yaoi is basically male slash. it's a term from manga (japanise graphic novels)
i had to google it to be sure. here's what wikipedia has on it;
