Cleared a quarter of a million dollars out of old accounts so far, and it's only just coming up on lunchtime.

I should not be this hungry, but oh GOD, I am starving. The kind of starving where you feel the first couple bites moving all the way down your throat. I can hardly wait the five minutes left to go scarf that damn sandwich my hubby so thoughtfully made me this morning. EDIT: Obviously, it's well after lunchtime, now - that sandwich was way good.

1. Since I have food on the brain, I'll also mention that I'm still trying to craft Christmas dinner. My family has never had one specific Christmas meal, like some people do. Some years it was turkey, others it was lasagna or stuffed grape leaves, or homemade pizzas, or Kentucky Fried Chicken or chow mein. This, of course, has shaped my thoughts on it, and as far as I'm concerned, anything goes.

I think this year, though, we'll end up doing a ham. And my heart is pretty well set on making these corn fritters from Inn at the Crossroads. I think I'll also do up that kickass glaze I did on the last ham we made (Easter, I think...), and some homemade skin-on mashed potatoes.

I want to pick up more of that non-alcoholic mulled wine (Glögg Alkoholfri) that Ikea sells, because it is made of awesome. You guys, it tastes like Christmas. I want to buy a ton of it. I may have to settle for a few bottles. And too, I may have to attempt that mulled wine (potus ypocras) recipe I've got, see if it ends up tasting as good as the non-alcoholic stuff does.

2. Thankfully, we are nearly done with all our shopping. I've finished and wrapped everything for hubby, stocking stuffers and all. We've got all of the gifts for Boychild, but still need to wrap them, and we need to find stocking stuffers for him as well. Already got everything for my parents and sister, and just need a few more stocking items for each of them. We're doing pretty well this year, timewise.

3. OMG you guys, I HATE Christmas cards!! Not receiving them, or even sending them; I don't hate the idea of them. I just hate having to fill them out. It is the most boring Christmas job on the planet, to me. I sat for three hours two weeks ago and only did seven of them. I've done a few more since then, but God Almighty, it's been hard. I don't know if it's because I am so unbelievably lazy, or if it really is just that boring. I think I figure, for the most part, that people know I love them and think about them often, or I figure they SHOULD know it, so why do I have to fill these things out to prove it?

I swear, next year we're doing photo cards with a message on them, and that will have to do. I cannot even imagine being one of those people who does up "the letter." To those who do, I tip my hat to you, sir (or insert your preferred title here).

4. This song. My God, we heard it on the radio a month ago and just laughed so much. It is awesome:

So despite the inherent craziness of the holiday season, I think we're probably ahead of where we usually are at this point, and that's pretty cool. :)
