Time for a meme, this time from
superbeffie. Comment if you want to do it and I'll give you five topics I associate you with, and then you post and elaborate on them.
1. Singing? Does that mean you sing or you wish you did?
Both would be accurate, actually. I do sing, I can sing. I LOVE to sing - making music is such a powerful thing for me, and making it with my voice is more satisfying than with an instrument, which was kind of an odd thing to discover about myself, because I was always a hardcore band geek.
I can really belt it out; I love to do it. But I don't really do it when anyone can hear me because I'm terrified they'll think I'm awful...and tell me so. I don't take criticism well, especially not when it's something that makes me so happy. But if I had the courage of a lion, I'd get up in front of anyone and sing my heart out.
2. Harry Potter. What are your ships? Sarah told me not to ask, but I just have to know.
LOL! You probably should have listened to her. *snerk* Harry/Ginny, of course, and Ron/Hermione.Please stop making faces at me, I know you are. ;) My guilty pleasure ships are George/Luna and Neville/Lavender. I'll read just about any ship in fanfiction, even ones that contradict my own ship choices, provided it's well-written and doesn't parade across my personal squicks. I've discovered I have soft spots for Charlie/Hermione and Cedric/Hermione when it comes to fanfic.
3. Why is there an elephant on your little bio picture page?
*shrugs* I like elephants. Their memories are long and their intelligence famed; they have no natural predators and are very much about familial relations and interacting with their families and loved ones. I think they're incredible creatures, and beautiful, too.
4. Fictional character you most identify with and why?
I always wondered if I'd be asked this, and always knew I'd never have a good answer ready. I don't know that any one character I can think of is most like myself. Hermione Granger, of course; she is a reader and a lover of knowledge at heart, as am I. Peter Pevensie, with his leadership skills and his deep love for both his family and his Lord. Lucy Pevensie, with her depthless faith and curious nature. Neville Longbottom too, I suppose - he's quiet but sure of himself. He may not be book-smart or wildly brilliant, but he's smart and dependable in the ways that matter most. And Harry Potter, with his tendency to take everything on himself, to blame himself for things he can't control, to rush off to help someone he thinks is in need of it - I do that, too. And you know, I never think of it as a "saving people thing." That particular observation made me angry when I read it the first time, because it makes it sound like he - and therefore, I - purposely feel the need to go save people in order to be the hero, and that's not what it is at all, it's just about needing to do what's right.
Nope, not a very good answer. Sorry about that.
5. Your dream job? The thing you would do if there were no obstacles in the world.
Everything. I want to do everything.
Narrowing it down, I'd have to go for writing or singing, or even baking/cooking. OH! I know. There's no such job in the world, but dude, no obstacles? I'd quote movies that I know and love. My dad always used to wonder how it was that I could quote perfectly entire scenes from movies, but couldn't get straight A's in school. Well, duh, Dad, I LIKE the movies...school, not so much. ;) That's what I'd do, if it existed. I'd sit in an office and people could come to me for a movie quote, and I could give them one, depending on the movie. *grins*
Anyone else want to give me topics to elaborate on? Please? This was fun. XD.

Date: 2009-05-15 10:14 am (UTC)#1 - You should totally let me listen to you sing; I'm sure you sound awesome.
#2 - I like canon ships too, but you're right - when well written - there's some interesting ones in fanfic.
#3 - You're so right about elephants, they are wonderful creatures. ^_^
#4 - I LOVED your answers to this questions; they were perfect. I think every character you listed has got some elements of you in them (or you've got elements of that character).
And I agree with you on the Harry "saving people thing." I don't think it's a conscious decision to make himself look like the hero. He didn't think "oh, I'll defeat Voldemort because then everyone will worship me and I'll be given loads of money." He did it because Dumbledore (through the prophecy) made him believe he was the only one that could do it, and he knew it was the right thing to do so that those he cared about would be safe.
I think the same could be said of you. You don't do something because you think it'd make people like you more, think you're cooler, worship you etc. You do it because you can't stand to see someone you care about suffering, and you want what is best for your loved ones and those around you.
#5 - *hehe* That'd be such a cool job. ^_^

Okay ... I'm going to give you five topics now (and you can give me five if you want ^_~)
1. What was it about Heroes that drew you into the show? What elements of it do you still love? What do you now hate? (yes, that is one questions *snerk*)
2. Like the elephant, is there any reason behind the butterflies in your profile picture?
3. Ignoring any Sorting Hat quizzes you might have taken in the past, what Hogwarts house do you think you should be in/ would like to be in?
4. Where is the quote "from here to there from there to here funny things are everywhere" - that appears in your profile pic - originally from? And why did you choose it for your profile?
5. What styles of music/ specific songs do you find especially uplifting/ inspiring? AKA What song could you listen to at any time, and it'd make you happy/ feel good?

Date: 2009-05-16 02:38 am (UTC)2. There are some fabulous ships in fanfiction, and even the ones I don't necessarily agree with on a personal level can be very well done. I'm not a Harry/Hermione shipper by any stretch of the imagination, but I've read some wonderfully written fanfics that DO ship them. It's just a matter of how open you are to reading other things. :)
3. XD.
4. I don't think it's a conscious decision to make himself look like the hero. He didn't think "oh, I'll defeat Voldemort because then everyone will worship me and I'll be given loads of money."
YES! And that's how it came across to me, like it was so awful to want to help people, like he was doing it specifically for attention.
5. I know, right?!
*******
I'll be posting my answers to your questions in just a few minutes, here. ;)

And I think your literary character identities are very good and sound very fitting.

Date: 2009-05-16 02:51 am (UTC)Questions for you:
1. Gun control. Tell me more. Where we would start, how we would explain to the NRA when they come at us with the second amendment, what the penalties should/could/would be.
2. John Krasinski VS James McAvoy: Who would win out in the end? Why?
3. NPR. What's your favorite thing to listen to on NPR? Why? Do you listen to any other radio stations?
4. Springtime. Flowers, soil, water, all that verdant green - what's your favorite thing? Your favorite smell? How come?
5. Tanzania. What will you do there, what do you hope to come back having achieved? Why has it always been such a dream to go there?

Date: 2009-05-16 02:32 am (UTC)And I know how you feel about the singing, believe me. If I think someone can hear me or is listening, I don't generally sing for people. Being funny and goofy is one thing, but doing it to sound good? PFFFFFTTTTTT. Right.

Date: 2009-05-16 07:11 pm (UTC)4. I totally agree with you about Harry's "saving people" thing - I never once thought it was for attention, it was just what he thought was right.
5. Omg please make that a real job. That's awesome XD

3. Narnia. Which book is your favorite? Which character? Why? What about Narnia moves you most?
4. Which Harry Potter character do you most identify with? How come?
5. What house do you think the hat would sort you into? Do you agree with it? If so, why? If not, which would you like to be sorted into? Why?
Have at it, I'm interested to see what you have to say! Feel free to ask some in return. ;)
